About Our CAFCC
The Community Action Foundation of Citrus County (CAFCC) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that
addresses the needs of the socio-economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth of Crystal River, FL and
Citrus County. In the past, the church was an integral part of the community - serving as the cornerstone
for our values and morays. The teachers, pastors, and leaders who helped instill values and discipline
were members of both the community and local church.
Due to a need to broaden our economic opportunities, those of us who could have assumed leadership
roles moved on. This migration formed a generational gap, which left the youth of today without the
necessary teachings and leadership that the older generations (ages 60+) provided for us in the past.
Also, the majority of the pastors of the local churches are not originally from the community.
Economically, citizens originating from this area are disadvantaged. We lack affordable housing,
substantial employment opportunities, secondary education, and vital skills in a technological society.
FOCUS
Our immediate focus will be Community Development and Education. The implementation and
execution of these two principles will allow us to come together as a community in a cooperative spirit
and build a foundation for which to advance the education of our youth.
As the Foundation’s support and resources grow, we’ll implement programs to address Health/Nutrition,
Affordable Housing and Financial Investment in Crystal River, FL. Once we have established a
successful, robust program with measurable outcomes, we plan to roll out the program to other minority
and disadvantages populations within Citrus County.
TARGET AGE GROUP
Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. Our target age group is 4 to 16 years of age. We want to focus on
our youth, teaching values, self-esteem and discipline, starting at an early age. It is our hope that we can
lay the foundation to build a secure future. Our children are young and impressionable – we want to help
mold them into responsible adults, capable of making good choices.
